Hikario ki Tongariro - AR Experience
An innovative augmented reality storytelling experience designed to bring to life the rich history and cultural heritage of Te Wharerangi, a revered leader of the Tuwharetoa people. Developed by Koi Digital Ltd in collaboration with Te Maari Gardiner and inspired by the historical accounts from the Otukou Marae Committee’s 1993 publication, this project presents a seamless blend of traditional Maori narratives and cutting-edge technology.
Future of Storytelling
It is a transformative way to bring narratives to life by overlaying digital content onto the physical world through a smartphone or AR device. This technology merges reality with digital elements like 3D models, animations, and interactive experiences, creating immersive and engaging stories.
AR storytelling is futuristic because it allows audiences to interact with stories in a personalized, context-aware manner, making the narrative more dynamic and memorable. It breaks traditional storytelling boundaries, offering endless possibilities for creativity and education.
